SAAS prioritizes academic and professional development through education and projects. Our data pipeline enables students to learn and gain proficiency in data science and machine learning, regardless of their prior experience level.

Our data pipeline consists of 4 committees. We provide a community for people of all backgrounds and experience levels. Learn more about the committees below!
Data Foundations
What to Expect: Content from Data 8/100 (or equivalent) + team project
Requirements: No prior experience required!
Data Mentorship
What to Expect: Advanced DS/ML workshops + mentored through a client project
Requirements: Previous/concurrent Data 100 (or equivalent) enrollment or some project/internship experience
Data Consulting
What to Expect: Advanced technical DS/ML client project
Requirements: Significant internship, research, or project experience in DS/ML
Education
What to Expect: Create curriculum, give lectures, and facilitate DF team projects

Data Foundations
Data Foundations is our introduction to data science committee. Through lectures from our Education committee, DF learns data science fundamentals, with topics primarily from Data 8 and Data 100.
The semester closes with a final project on each group’s topic of choice. Here are a few projects from past semesters!

Outside of lectures, DF is integrated into the SAAS family through weekly challenges from their directors, advice from their Professional Development Advisor, and making more friends through the Big Little System!
Data Mentorship
Data Mentorship serves as an introduction to consulting committee. After preparatory workshops on advanced ML topics, DM members take on a client project with heavy mentorship from their directors. The semester concludes with a final deliverable presentation to the clients.
Data Consulting
Data Consulting consists of 4 project teams with 6-8 SAASies each. Project managers lead their team through a complex technical project in a machine learning niche and present their findings to the client at the end of the semester.

Education
Our Education committee is the main pillar supporting our Data Pipeline. They develop the data pipeline curriculum and give lectures to our Data Foundations committee (and on special occasions, DM and DC too!).
They also create additional resources to help SAASies brush up on their data science knowledge.
